10th anniversary of Biorizon – 30/11/2023

Time to look back on a successful 10th anniversary of Biorizon, the shared research center we started together with TNO at the time, which focuses on scaling up the production of bio-aromatics.

Our CEO Inge Neven started the Biorizon day together with Henk-Jan Vink, Managing Director Energy & Materials Transition at TNO. SPOT colleagues presented protoypes on material developments!
To give an idea of the work we are doing in this context, an overview of 3 projects where we are bringing bio-aromatics research to pilot scale.

1️⃣ COUNTLESS: in which #lignin processing is taken to industrial scale, making the production of lignin-based platform chemicals cost-effective and sustainable. More info: https://lnkd.in/eJ6ktm8k

2️⃣ BIO-CAPPP: together with companies, experts and students, the project team will develop sustainable chemical building blocks and apply them in products for the construction and textile sectors, among others. The application of these bio-aromatics not only makes the products more sustainable, but also provides premium properties. In this way, BIO-CAPPP contributes to the transition to a circular economy. 3️⃣ LIFE VIABLE: a project that aims at improving the sustainability and environmental impact of epoxy resins using lignin. It wants to improve the sustainability and the environmental impact of epoxy resins manufacture by lowering the BPA content in the formulation of epoxy resins by 20 to 50%.
