SPOT PhD Aina Pérez Nakai Represents SPOT at ESBBC-3 Summer School in Cambridge

From 15 to 17 September 2025, the 3rd European Summer School on Bio-based Composites (ESBBC-3) will take place in Cambridge (UK), bringing together early-career researchers, academic experts, and industry professionals.

SPOT will be represented by PhD researcher Aina Pérez Nakai, who works on the use of lignin as a renewable building block for the development of sustainable biocomposites. Her project contributes to SPOT’s mission of enabling more sustainable materials by valorising lignin to create innovative composites with reduced environmental impact.

During the three-day programme, Aina will:

  • Deliver a flash presentation on her ongoing research, receiving feedback from peers and experts.
  • Participate in workshops and masterclasses on material design, processing, functionality, value chains, and the use of AI in composite development.
  • Network with fellow researchers and industry representatives, creating opportunities for collaboration.
  • Join sessions highlighting EU-funded projects such as SSUCHY NEXT and UPWEARS, aligning her work with wider European efforts in sustainable composite innovation.

SPOT’s participation in ESBBC-3 reflects its active role in shaping the future of sustainable materials. Events like this are essential for sharing cutting-edge research, fostering collaborations, and inspiring the next generation of scientists working on circular, low-impact material solutions.
