In a very recent article (October 6th) in Flemish business newspaper “De Tijd” investment company Entrevest (Hasselt) announces its participation in SME company The Green Revolution (TGR) (Boom). This company has been set up by Jorden d’Hulster to manufacture a totally new type of sustainable/CO2 neutral transportation pallets made from miscanthus leaves. The involvement of VITO proved to be essential in allowing for a bio-based and formaldehyde-free adhesive to make a solid composite from miscanthus leave fibres upon hot pressing. This results in high-quality pallets with a long life and an exceptional water resistance. A new pallet design allows for very attractive logistics features. The article in “De Tijd” mentions a successful testing round at logistics giant DHL and the interest of several other parties. A first production line will be set up shortly and TGR has managed here to raise funds of 2 Mio Euro. VITO is very proud that it is part of this success story.
The BIO-CAPPP project is co-funded by Interreg Flanders-Netherlands, the cross-border cooperation program with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund, VLAIO, the provinces of Antwerp, East-Flanders and North Brabant and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.
